Read the January issue of 'Nature reports Climate Change' the conclusion of several of the reports is that things are more complex then had been previously recognized. Lots of information on geo-engineering - more of trading the old problems for newer more intractable problems. Links led me to an article on the envirnmental problems that had been noted when horses were the prime means of transportation.

One the the first replacements for horses was the electric trolley. Too bad private vehicles suplantted the trolley so quickly in so many places. I think Calgary even had trolleys way back when; but they were all gone before I moved here.
Went to the rec center yesterday; everyone had a good time. I can't believe that it is Graydon that is the most into it. Natalia is getting freaked out by getting splashed and I thought she would be the last one affected by that. Anyway all the kids are getting more comfortable in the water so hopefully we will have a swimmer or two next summer.

Also had a good practice on bass last night. Getting into 2 octave scales and arpeggios, hopefully I can start to create some better accompaniments soon. We should be having a make it your own session tonight but I won't be able to expand much on what I have been doing already. Maybe adding in some notes from the chord since I am getting a better understanding of how that works. I am going to need to get the key signatures from our set pieces to be able to develop a groove for each. The groove is already set for a lot of stuff we play but for stuff like the change to the groove that I want to create for Goodnight Irene I will need to work it out.

It is -12c right now; I need to get in a workout and then get down into the job search full time. Need to get a name for Stantec here in Calgary and complete the grid for the Winnipeg health contract.

Had Ketan, Bahareh, Naveen, Audrey, Matt and Iris over last night. I wasn't too exicted about it but had a good time overall. Didn't drink much so I feel ok today.

Ended the night working on some finger exercises for bass after everyone had left.

Ahh Sunday and what to do. The job jar keeps growing as during each successfully completed job another job or two are found. I think that I will just get back to working on something that can be completed today and hope that it doesn't lead to further increases in the to-do list.

worked on cleaning up the hot tub room - need to insulate in there as well. Not now though, time to get ready to have people over. Then we are going skating at the lake.
I read an article regarding paranoia in politics by Konrad Yakabuski in the Globe and Mail today. I really enjoyed it so a googled KY and found his LinkedIn site. Funny he only has three contacts but what I really noticed is his education. It is very similar to mine; so how do you become a columnist? I think I will contact him to find out what worked for him.
